HOLY WEEK

Maundy Thursday

April 17 | 7 p.m.

On Maundy Thursday, or Commandment Thursday, we celebrate Holy Communion, participate in a reenactment of the foot washing of Jesus and conclude with the stripping of the altar, which is a startling visual representation of what the world would be without Christ.

For the kids

There is no child care available for this service.

Good Friday

April 18 | noon

Through Stations of the Cross meditations, we will prayerfully enter the darkness of Christ’s death and burial in order to share in the joy of his resurrection.

During the noon service, kindergartners through fifth-graders will check in to the downstairs classrooms.

For the kids

Lunch will be served, and children will take part in their version of the Stations of the Cross. Toddlers and preschoolers will have lunch together and learn about Jesus’ time on the cross.

In order to plan for food, please register your child(ren) via the button below by Tuesday, April 15.

Easter Egg Hunt

April 19 | 10:30/10:45 a.m.

Families with children up through pre-K4 should meet Ms. Jennifer in the Garth at 10:30 a.m.; those with children in kindergarten through fourth grade should meet Ms. Kate on the playground at 10:45 a.m.

Please bring two dozen egg filled with individually wrapped candy by Good Friday. They may be dropped off in the front office.

Easter Sunday

April 20 | 7:30, 9 & 11 a.m.

Holy Week culminates with the grand celebration of Christ’s resurrection and saving grace on Easter morning! In order to have space for family, guests and those looking for a place to worship on Easter, we will have three services on Sunday.

The traditional service will be at 7:30 a.m. and will have no children’s or early childhood classes during the service.

Both the 9 and 11 a.m. services will be contemporary services. Children’s and early childhood classes will take place like a normal Sunday.

There are no classes between services for children or adults on Easter Sunday.

For the kids

Children will take part in the “flowering of the cross” at the beginning of each service. Flowers will be provided, but you are welcome to bring flowers from your garden as well. Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to participate in the flowering of the cross and then proceed to class to learn about Christ’s resurrection. Children’s and early childhood classes will take place during the 9 & 11 a.m. service.

Vision & Discussion

Church Plant Meeting

Friday, May 9 | 6 p.m. | Commons

If you’ve been around St. Andrew’s very long, you’ve heard at least one of us talk about church planting. However, what we mean when we say church planting is probably different than the church down the street. Join us for dinner as +Robert lays out the vision for church planting at St. Andrew’s as we begin intentionally praying, communicating and discerning how we can faithfully follow Matthew 28:18-20 as expressed in our church’s values.

As dinner will be served, please register via the button below no later than Monday, May 5.

MISSIONS

Western Hills Elementary

Our local ministry, Western Hills Elementary Support, is excited about the fun opportunities associated with wrapping up the school year!

FISHING DAYS

Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7  |  8:30 a.m.–noon  |  Boyle Parke

The school has again asked us to co-sponsor the “reward” day for good behavior of select students by taking them to fish at Boyle Park during the school day. Our presence is very important because the number of students who get to fish is directly proportional to the number of volunteers from St. Andrew’s who attend. The students talk about this day all year long.  You will be needed at Boyle Park on May 6 and/or May 7 from 8:30 to noon. Please sign up in the Narthex on Sunday or contact Bill Bussey.

FIELD DAY

May 16  |  8:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

Field day is the day for fun and games for students.  The faculty and staff are especially thankful for our presence on this day.  We are generally needed from 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m. to run games outdoors. Energetic adults and teens are welcome. To sign up, contact Rachel Hunt.

It’s time to restock the Western Hills’ teachers’ lounge. Items may be dropped off at the church on Sunday mornings or in the office, Monday through Thursday.

Monthly Evening Of

Come & See Prayer

Sunday, May 11 | 5 p.m.—Testimonies; 6 p.m.—Worship

St. Andrew’s is setting aside the second Sunday evening each month for a time of worship and prayer. Join us in the Prayer Room at 5:30 p.m. for a time of sharing testimonies. Worship will begin at 6 p.m. This is a time for us to come before the Lord, and seek him for healing, direction, or just to sit in his presence. We’ll have prayer teams available. Come and experience all that God is longing to show you.

Vacation Bible School

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Monday-Wednesday, June 23-25 | 9 a.m.–noon

C.S. Lewis’ beloved story, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, comes to life at St. Andrew’s Church this June. Children Pre-K3 to 4th grade for the 2024-25 school year are invited walk through the wardrobe to Narnia, where it’s always winter and never Christmas. Through live action plays, small group times, fun and games, students will hear the story Aslan’s restoration of Narnia and redemption of Edward to learn about the powerful story of Christ’s death and resurrection.  Infants and toddlers may attend VBS if a parent is volunteering.

Register by clicking the button below.

Need aftercare?

Are your children (pre-K4 through 4th grade for the 2024-25 school year) unable to attend VBS because it ends at noon and half-day childcare is not an option for you? We want all our children to be able to participate, so we’ve opened a few aftercare (noon-3 p.m.) spots just for you. Lunch will be provided. You’ll need to register your children separately for aftercare via the QR code to the right.
