Psalm 72

1 Give the king your justice, O God,     and your righteousness to the royal son! 2 May he judge your people with righteousness,     and your poor with justice! 3 Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people,     and the hills, in righteousness! 4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,     give deliverance to the children of the needy,     and crush the oppressor! 5 May they fear you while the sun endures,     and as long as the moon, throughout all generations! 6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass,     like showers that water the earth! 7 In his days may the righteous flourish,     and peace abound, till the moon be no more! 8 May he have dominion from sea to sea,     and from the River to the ends of the earth! 9 May desert tribes bow down before him,     and his enemies lick the dust! 10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the coastlands     render him tribute;     may the kings of Sheba and Seba     bring gifts! 11 May all kings fall down before him,     all nations serve him! 12 For he delivers the needy when he calls,     the poor and him who has no helper. 13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,     and saves the lives of the needy. 14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life,     and precious is their blood in his sight. 15 Long may he live;     may gold of Sheba be given to him!     May prayer be made for him continually,     and blessings invoked for him all the day! 16 May there be abundance of grain in the land;     on the tops of the mountains may it wave;     may its fruit be like Lebanon;     and may people blossom in the cities     like the grass of the field! 17 May his name endure forever,     his fame continue as long as the sun!     May people be blessed in him,     all nations call him blessed! 18 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,     who alone does wondrous things. 19 Blessed be his glorious name forever;     may the whole earth be filled with his glory!     Amen and Amen! 20 The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.

Psalm 119:73-96

73 Your hands have made and fashioned me;     give me understanding that I may learn your commandments. 74 Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice,     because I have hoped in your word. 75 I know, O Lord, that your rules are righteous,     and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. 76 Let your steadfast love comfort me     according to your promise to your servant. 77 Let your mercy come to me, that I may live;     for your law is my delight. 78 Let the insolent be put to shame,     because they have wronged me with falsehood;     as for me, I will meditate on your precepts. 79 Let those who fear you turn to me,     that they may know your testimonies. 80 May my heart be blameless in your statutes,     that I may not be put to shame! 81 My soul longs for your salvation;     I hope in your word. 82 My eyes long for your promise;     I ask, “When will you comfort me?” 83 For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke,     yet I have not forgotten your statutes. 84 How long must your servant endure?     When will you judge those who persecute me? 85 The insolent have dug pitfalls for me;     they do not live according to your law. 86 All your commandments are sure;     they persecute me with falsehood; help me! 87 They have almost made an end of me on earth,     but I have not forsaken your precepts. 88 In your steadfast love give me life,     that I may keep the testimonies of your mouth. 89 Forever, O Lord, your word     is firmly fixed in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations;     you have established the earth, and it stands fast. 91 By your appointment they stand this day,     for all things are your servants. 92 If your law had not been my delight,     I would have perished in my affliction. 93 I will never forget your precepts,     for by them you have given me life. 94 I am yours; save me,     for I have sought your precepts. 95 The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,     but I consider your testimonies. 96 I have seen a limit to all perfection,     but your commandment is exceedingly broad.

Revelation 16:1-11

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.” 2 So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. 3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea. 4 The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel in charge of the waters say,     “Just are you, O Holy One, who is and who was,     for you brought these judgments. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,     and you have given them blood to drink.     It is what they deserve!” 7 And I heard the altar saying,     “Yes, Lord God the Almighty,     true and just are your judgments!” 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.

Luke 13:10-17

10 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.
