Psalm 45

1 My heart overflows with a pleasing theme;     I address my verses to the king;     my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe. 2 You are the most handsome of the sons of men;     grace is poured upon your lips;     therefore God has blessed you forever. 3 Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one,     in your splendor and majesty! 4 In your majesty ride out victoriously     for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness;     let your right hand teach you awesome deeds! 5 Your arrows are sharp     in the heart of the king's enemies;     the peoples fall under you. 6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.     The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; 7 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.     Therefore God, your God, has anointed you     with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; 8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia.     From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad; 9 daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor;     at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. 10 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear:     forget your people and your father's house, 11 and the king will desire your beauty.     Since he is your lord, bow to him. 12 The people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts,     the richest of the people. 13 All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold. 14 In many-colored robes she is led to the king,     with her virgin companions following behind her. 15 With joy and gladness they are led along     as they enter the palace of the king. 16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons;     you will make them princes in all the earth. 17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations;     therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,     a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,     though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam,     though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,     the holy habitation of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;     God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;     he utters his voice, the earth melts. 7 The Lord of hosts is with us;     the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah 8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,     how he has brought desolations on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;     he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;     he burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Be still, and know that I am God.     I will be exalted among the nations,     I will be exalted in the earth!” 11 The Lord of hosts is with us;     the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Psalm 89:1-29

1 I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;     with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. 2 For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever;     in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.” 3 You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one;     I have sworn to David my servant: 4 ‘I will establish your offspring forever,     and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah 5 Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,     your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! 6 For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?     Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, 7 a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones,     and awesome above all who are around him? 8 Lord God of hosts,     who is mighty as you are, O Lord,     with your faithfulness all around you? 9 You rule the raging of the sea;     when its waves rise, you still them. 10 You crushed Rahab like a carcass;     you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm. 11 The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;     the world and all that is in it, you have founded them. 12 The north and the south, you have created them;     Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name. 13 You have a mighty arm;     strong is your hand, high your right hand. 14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;     steadfast love and faithfulness go before you. 15 Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,     who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face, 16 who exult in your name all the day     and in your righteousness are exalted. 17 For you are the glory of their strength;     by your favor our horn is exalted. 18 For our shield belongs to the Lord,     our king to the Holy One of Israel. 19 Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said:     “I have granted help to one who is mighty;     I have exalted one chosen from the people. 20 I have found David, my servant;     with my holy oil I have anointed him, 21 so that my hand shall be established with him;     my arm also shall strengthen him. 22 The enemy shall not outwit him;     the wicked shall not humble him. 23 I will crush his foes before him     and strike down those who hate him. 24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him,     and in my name shall his horn be exalted. 25 I will set his hand on the sea     and his right hand on the rivers. 26 He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father,     my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’ 27 And I will make him the firstborn,     the highest of the kings of the earth. 28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever,     and my covenant will stand firm for him. 29 I will establish his offspring forever     and his throne as the days of the heavens.

Isaiah 35

1 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad;     the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; 2 it shall blossom abundantly     and rejoice with joy and singing.     The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,     the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.     They shall see the glory of the Lord,     the majesty of our God. 3 Strengthen the weak hands,     and make firm the feeble knees. 4 Say to those who have an anxious heart,     “Be strong; fear not!     Behold, your God     will come with vengeance,     with the recompense of God.     He will come and save you.” 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,     and the ears of the deaf unstopped; 6 then shall the lame man leap like a deer,     and the tongue of the mute sing for joy.     For waters break forth in the wilderness,     and streams in the desert; 7 the burning sand shall become a pool,     and the thirsty ground springs of water;     in the haunt of jackals, where they lie down,     the grass shall become reeds and rushes. 8 And a highway shall be there,     and it shall be called the Way of Holiness;     the unclean shall not pass over it.     It shall belong to those who walk on the way;     even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. 9 No lion shall be there,     nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it;     they shall not be found there,     but the redeemed shall walk there. 10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return     and come to Zion with singing;     everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;     they shall obtain gladness and joy,     and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Isaiah 59:15b-21

15b The Lord saw it, and it displeased him     that there was no justice. 16 He saw that there was no man,     and wondered that there was no one to intercede;     then his own arm brought him salvation,     and his righteousness upheld him. 17 He put on righteousness as a breastplate,     and a helmet of salvation on his head;     he put on garments of vengeance for clothing,     and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak. 18 According to their deeds, so will he repay,     wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies;     to the coastlands he will render repayment. 19 So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west,     and his glory from the rising of the sun;     for he will come like a rushing stream,     which the wind of the Lord drives. 20 “And a Redeemer will come to Zion,     to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,” declares the Lord. 21 “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children's offspring,” says the Lord, “from this time forth and forevermore.”

Philippians 2:5-11

5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Revelation 22:12-17, 21

12 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” 14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. 16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.” 17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. ... 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.

Luke 1:67-80

67 And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying, 68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,     for he has visited and redeemed his people 69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us     in the house of his servant David, 70 as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, 71 that we should be saved from our enemies     and from the hand of all who hate us; 72 to show the mercy promised to our fathers     and to remember his holy covenant, 73 the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us 74 that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,     might serve him without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. 76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;     for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, 77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people     in the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God,     whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high 79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,     to guide our feet into the way of peace.” 80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.>
