Psalm 66

¹ Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
² sing the glory of his name;
    give to him glorious praise!
³Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
    So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.
⁴All the earth worships you
    and sings praises to you;
    they sing praises to your name.”
⁵Come and see what God has done:
    he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
⁶He turned the sea into dry land;
    they passed through the river on foot.
    There did we rejoice in him,
⁷ who rules by his might forever,
    whose eyes keep watch on the nations—
    let not the rebellious exalt themselves.
⁸Bless our God, O peoples;
    let the sound of his praise be heard,
⁹who has kept our soul among the living
    and has not let our feet slip.
¹⁰For you, O God, have tested us;
    you have tried us as silver is tried.
¹¹You brought us into the net;
    you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
¹²you let men ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through water;
    yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.
¹³I will come into your house with burnt offerings;
    I will perform my vows to you,
¹⁴that which my lips uttered
    and my mouth promised when I was in trouble.
¹⁵I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals,
    with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams;
    I will make an offering of bulls and goats.
¹⁶Come and hear, all you who fear God,
    and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
¹⁷I cried to him with my mouth,
    and high praise was on my tongue.
¹⁸If I had cherished iniquity in my heart,
    the Lord would not have listened.
¹⁹But truly God has listened;
    he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
²⁰Blessed be God,
    because he has not rejected my prayer
    or removed his steadfast love from me!

Psalm 93

¹ The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;
    the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
²Your throne is established from of old;
    you are from everlasting.
³The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
    the floods have lifted up their voice;
    the floods lift up their roaring.
⁴Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
    mightier than the waves of the sea,
    the Lord on high is mighty!
⁵Your decrees are very trustworthy;
    holiness befits your house,
    O Lord, forevermore.

Psalm 98

¹ Oh sing to the Lord a new song,
    for he has done marvelous things!
    His right hand and his holy arm
    have worked salvation for him.
²The Lord has made known his salvation;
    he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
³He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
    to the house of Israel.
    All the ends of the earth have seen
    the salvation of our God.
⁴Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
    break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
⁵Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
    with the lyre and the sound of melody!
⁶With trumpets and the sound of the horn
    make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!
⁷Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
    the world and those who dwell in it!
⁸Let the rivers clap their hands;
    let the hills sing for joy together
⁹before the Lord, for he comes
    to judge the earth.
    He will judge the world with righteousness,
    and the peoples with equity.

Jonah 2:1-9

¹ Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, ²saying,
    “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
    and he answered me;
    out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
    and you heard my voice.
³For you cast me into the deep,
    into the heart of the seas,
    and the flood surrounded me;
    all your waves and your billows
    passed over me.
⁴Then I said, ‘I am driven away
    from your sight;
    yet I shall again look
    upon your holy temple.’
⁵The waters closed in over me to take my life;
    the deep surrounded me;
    weeds were wrapped about my head
⁶ at the roots of the mountains.
    I went down to the land
    whose bars closed upon me forever;
    yet you brought up my life from the pit,
    O Lord my God.
⁷When my life was fainting away,
    I remembered the Lord,
    and my prayer came to you,
    into your holy temple.
⁸Those who pay regard to vain idols
    forsake their hope of steadfast love.
⁹But I with the voice of thanksgiving
    will sacrifice to you;
    what I have vowed I will pay.
    Salvation belongs to the Lord!”

Acts 2:14, 22-23

¹⁴ But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words… ²²“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— ²³this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

John 14:1-14

¹ “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. ²In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? ³And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. ⁴And you know the way to where I am going.” ⁵Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” ⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ⁷If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” ⁸Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” ⁹Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ¹⁰Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. ¹¹Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. ¹²“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. ¹³Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
